Just like we saw LG G Watch R along with a couple of other smartwatches a few days before IFA kicked off last year, several tech giants including ASUS, LG and Fossil have released teasers of their wrist-gizmos just two weeks before the consumer electronics event begins this year in Germany.
While there will be many other vendors will also take wraps off their watches, let’s talk about the three most notable watches that could be presented to the wannabe buyers.
ASUS ZenWatch 2
ASUS will finally unveil their much anticipated ZenWatch 2 at the IFA trade show. The smartwatch first appeared on the Internet back in June, and now the manufacturer has released a teaser video. The video posted on Facebook page is short, and the watch appears on it for just a fraction of a second – so don’t blink, or you’ll miss it.
Well, there are rumors that the watch won’t run Android Wear, but ASUS hasn’t said a word about it. Though the watch might be unveiled at the IFA, ASUS has previously confirmed that they’ll launch it in two different versions, next year.
The ZenWatch 2 looks extremely elegant, and is expected to come with a curved AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3, a metal crown, IP67 water resistant design… did I forget to mention the magnetic charger?
Fossil’s Android Wear Smartwatch
Fossil showed off their Android Wear smartwatch and two other wearable devices on August 18th at the Intel Developer Forum, in San Francisco. All the three devices are powered by Intel. While the companies didn’t divulge much about the specs, the classy design looks pretty similar to that of Moto 360; it even has the same black void at the bottom of the screen as we saw in the Motorola’s smartwatch.
The other two wearables will come with “some sort of smart features”, but we surely won’t call them smartwatches. How the three devices actually fare on consumer’s wrist, we’ll have to wait and see.
LG’s Upcoming Android Wear Smartwatch
While there are rumors about LG Nemo – a smartwatch that will have the highest resolution, we’re not sure if it will be launched at the IFA or it will be a different model since there aren’t very many details available yet.
The smartwatch to be revealed at the IFA seems to have a 1.77 inch squarish display with rounded corners. The smartwatch will also support cellular data.
But there’s more
Of course many other topnotch vendors including Motorola, Samsung, and even some Swiss watchmakers will also soon enter the smartwatch game, and the competition will only get fiercer. That’s good news for you, because there will be more options on the table; and hopefully better yet cheaper smartwatches.
