While we’ve been seeing Google Maps on Android Wear smartwatches since the very first day they’re launched, but Google hadn’t officially released the app and the experience was pretty lackluster. But now Google has finally taken the wraps off their app, and an Android Wear update brings in the new functionality.
It not only makes the experience more polished but also adds several features including the ability to use voice commands, and integration with other apps such as Trulia, Hotel Tonight, TripAdvisor, Priceline, Foursquare etc. The integration with travel apps really makes a lot of sense.
Thankfully, the app won’t be put too much burden on the battery life, as when the user isn’t actively interacting with the app, the maps will be in battery saving mode with a black and white display.
