Earlier this year, HTC showed off the yet-to-be-released HTC Grip – a square-faced fitness tracker that runs an operating system other than Android Wear. The Halfbeak, however, is reported to run on Google’s platform.
Halfbeak is actually a type of fish, so HTC seems to be following the trend of naming the watch after types of fish set by other manufacturers including Motorola working on “smelt” and Sony had codenamed the Smartwatch 3 “tetra”.
You may criticize them for whatever reason, I personally like HTC’s smartphones for their beautiful design. That’s why I’m particularly excited to see what type of a wearable will the company come up with.
HTC is holding an event on September 29, the same day Google is holding an event, reportedly to launch Nexus 5 and Nexus 6. Do you think if HTC unveils a wearable on the day, will it take some limelight away from the Big G? Have your say in the comments below.
