While we were expecting Samsung will introduce their round-faced, so-called Orbis smartwatch at IFA next month in Berlin, but the Korean tech giant has already taken wraps off their smartwatch at their Unpacked 2015 event. The watch will be launched at IFA. In addition to the beautiful pictures (and cute alien-like models), we now have the official name: the Gear S2.
Samsung has finally upped the style quotient with a beautiful round face, metal body and a better looking user interface. From the missing “Galaxy” moniker and the interface showing apps arranged in a circle, it’s apparent that the watch will run on Tizen, thus will be compatible with a handful of Samsung smartphones.
The bezel doesn’t have any kind of markings on it, but it’s expected that it may be rotatable and could offer similar functionality to the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown i.e. navigation, zoom in/out.
According to reports, the smartwatch is expected to come with 786 MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, and a custom-made Exynos processor. It will also have several sensors including a heart-rate sensor, GPS and pedometer.
